One of Oman’s most promising industries is renewable energy, which also includes wind and solar power.
Solar Energy
In the Sultanate of Oman, using solar energy to generate electricity has less of an environmental impact than using natural gas. The government has established a number of solar energy projects in an effort to capitalize on this significant source. Among them is the 500 megawatt-capacity Ibri Solar Project. About 33,000 homes will receive electricity from the generated power, resulting in a yearly reduction of 340,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The Amin Solar Project is a significant undertaking in this area that seeks to lessen reliance on gas power plants and cut carbon dioxide emissions. With 336,000 photovoltaic panels spanning 4 km and a 100 megawatt capacity, the project reduces carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 226,000 tons yearly.
Wind Energy
The Sultanate of Oman's coast experiences strong, year-round winds, so the government decided to set up a number of wind energy projects with varying capacities in order to save energy and help the government meet its goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Among these projects are the Al Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar and the Dhofar Wind Energy Project in the Wilayat of Shaleem. The project was equipped with the most recent environmentally friendly pneumatic actuators, and it is anticipated to provide electricity to 16,000 homes in Dhofar.
